It’s never a good idea to use the word impersonator around someone performing as Elvis Presley.

“A lot of guys will be offended if you use that word,” says Eric Evangelista, 40, wearing a $1,000 white jumpsuit, known as ‘The Benefit Suit,’ with six gaudy Elvis knock-off rings, two bracelets and a large Maltese cross. “The preferred term is Elvis tribute artist.”

Evangelista and 39 other tribute artists, plus six youngsters, competed to be king at the Toronto Elvis Fest over the weekend. More than 1,900 diehard Elvis fans flocked to the event at Stage West in Mississauga.
